Walsh Hills public hearing set for Jan. 12

SNOHOMISH —  On Dec. 18, the City released a notice for public hearing regarding the Walsh Hills preliminary plat. The public hearing before the hearing examiner is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 12 at 1 p.m. The public hearing will be a remote meeting via the Zoom platform. Participants will be able to either log on via a computer or call in via telephone.
The proposal calls for a 111-lot subdivision of a 19.29-acre site at 1705 and 1711 Terrace Avenue, composed of a 17-lot planned residential development where the site is zoned single family and a 94-unit unit lot subdivision where it is zoned medium density residential (MDR).
The project includes internal roadways, frontage improvements to Terrace Avenue, open space, critical areas enhancement and protection, utility improvements, street trees, and a new park for residents.
Housing construction company D.R. Horton held an online meeting Sept. 24 to address the concerns of Walsh Hills’ neighbors. Concerns of density, safety, soil integrity, construction hours and traffic increases were topics of debate. After multiple meetings and hearings, neighbors think that 113 homes is too much for the site and neighborhood to handle.
