U.S. 2 trestle closures continue over next two weekends

SNOHOMISH COUNTY — Drivers heading west between the Lake Stevens area and Everett in August need to adjust their plans.
Crews will close all lanes of westbound U.S. 2 on the Hewitt Avenue trestle from 7 p.m. Friday Aug. 10 to 4 a.m. Monday Aug. 13 and then again from Friday Aug. 17 to Monday, Aug. 20.
Ramps to westbound U.S. 2 from state Route 204 and 20th Street Southeast will also be closed. This weather-dependent work will provide a smoother ride and also help preserve the pavement. Crews will be working on the west end of the trestle, between Homeacres Road and the Interstate 5 interchange. Travelers must detour onto state Route 9 with options to go northbound to state Route 528 in Marysville or southbound to state Route 96 or Cathcart Way.
Plan for lengthy delays on all detour routes. For updates check the WSDOT traffic app and WSDOT Traffic Twitter.
