New hub planned for Casino Road
Public meeting asking for ideas is April 17

EVERETT — A space at the Children’s Village center at 14 E. Casino Road is set to be remodeled into a community hub, and stakeholders want to hear from the public what should be built into it.
A conceptual design for the space will be based from input at this meeting.
The meeting will be Tuesday, April 17 starting at 5:45 p.m. at Horizon Elementary School, 222 W. Casino Road. The flyer notes children under 12 are encouraged to come speak. There will be translation services and free child care.
The median income along Casino Road is about $37,000, well under the county’s median income of $81,000, according to a group called the Casino Road Initiative, which also set up the April 17 meeting. The child poverty rate is 35.7 percent, compared to 14 percent countywide, according to the initiative.
The initiative’s stakeholders include representatives from United Way, Everett Community College and the career training program from Seattle Goodwill.
