Karen Guzak resigns from mayoral post

SNOHOMISH — Councilwoman Karen Guzak announced her resignation as the peer-nominated mayor of Snohomish Tuesday, Feb. 7.
The council nominated and selected Councilman Tom Hamilton to be the new mayor.
While Guzak has resigned from being mayor, she will continue to serve on the council.
The city is currently a weak mayor city, which means the mayor position is the leader of the council. Snohomish is in the process of turning into a strong mayor city, where the city is led by an elected mayor in charge of City Hall. The strong mayor will be elected this November.
The change this fall is after voters narrowly approved Proposition 2 last fall.

This is a developing story.
