moon obitMargaret Ellen Moon
1/6/1924 – 11/30/2016

Margaret Ellen Moon was born January 6, 1924 in Anacortes, Washington to her parents Harry and Joyce Cook. She grew up on March Point and graduated from Anacortes High School. She followed her brother Frank to college at Washington State College. She studied home economics and received her bachelor degree. It was there she met Charles Moon, whom she married.
Ellen and Chuck had their first son, Gary, in 1947 and together they moved to Alaska where they homesteaded five acres. They built a log cabin in Spenard, near Anchorage. In 1949, their second son, Bob, was born.
Ellen and her family returned to the Puget Sound area in 1952 in time for the birth of their third son, Paul. They settled in Snohomish and resided there for more than sixty years. Ellen enjoyed gardening, especially hybridizing rhododendrons. Even in her nineties she wanted to sneak a cutting from a plant she wanted to start. Ellen was a devoted wife and mother as she supported the career of her husband and reared their three boys. Her pies and sweet rolls will not be forgotten.
Ellen is survived by her three sons (and their spouses), Gary E. Moon (Sonja), Robert Moon (Nancy), and Paul F. Moon (Kathy); five grandchildren, Stacy Grover (Jason), Austin Moon, Dustin Moon, Garrett Moon (Caitlin), and Julian Moon; and two great-grandchildren, Anthony Grover and Veronica Grover; her sister-in-law Jeanne Goetz; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Ellen was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Charles E. Moon; her brother Dr. Harry Frank Cook and her daughter-in-law Linda Moon.
Memorials may be given to Alzheimer Society of Washington.
