Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Nyla Arlene (Childers) Walter, 97, died peacefully on December 3, 2016. She was vibrant, led an active, independent life, and was loved by all whose lives she touched.
Nyla was born on September 24, 1919 in Milliken, CO, the daughter of William and Ruth Childers. She graduated from high school in Rickreall, OR. She liked to brag about graduating 3rd in her class (out of a class of 3).
Nyla was married in Yuma, AZ on March 14, 1942 to a handsome US Navy sailor Lew C. Walter of Bayard, NE.
Nyla is survived by her sister Bonnie DeVore (93) of Salem, OR; sons James (Masayoshi) of San Francisco and Wade (Sharon) of Vancouver, WA; grandson Wade (Jennefer) Walter of Snohomish, WA and granddaughter Erin (Aaron) Reddekopp of Renton, WA; great grandsons Derek Parker of Monroe, WA, Dillon Walter of Everett, Wa, Spencer and Aiden Reddekopp of Renton, WA.
Nyla was preceded in death by her husband Lew Walter (2005) and daughter Janice Helen (1967), parents William and Ruth, sister Alice and brothers Floyde, Harold, Dale.
In lieu of flowers donation can be made to the United Methodist Church, 2400 Lake Avenue, Snohomish, WA 98290.
