Donald L. Wright
1937 – 2016

Don Wright passed away painlessly on Sunday, March 6, 2016. Born in 1937, to Jack and Maxine Wright, he was raised on a ranch along the river’s edge in Loma, MT. Don grew up riding horses, raising cattle and tending the farm. He attended school in a one-room school house in Loma through 6th grade and rode the school bus into Fort Benton, MT for high school, where he played football and other sports, and later graduated.
It was in Fort Benton, that Don started working for the Co-Op. He married his first wife, Bev Prodger, and the two had a son. He married his lifelong partner, Sharon Briese in 1965, and shortly thereafter, adopted her son. In 1968, he brought his family to Snohomish, WA, where he transferred to the Snohomish Co-Op. This was where he shined. Over the years, he cultivated many, many friendships and became an icon in the community. He knew everyone and then some. After 42 years, he retired from the Co-Op… twice.
Throughout his life, Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, travelling in the motor-home and spending time with his dogs. He was a member of the Granite Falls Eagles, Snohomish Kiwanis and a Snohomish City Council member. Don and Sharon hosted a foreign exchange student from Greece, and also opened their home for caring for foster children. He dearly loved his granddaughter and had so much fun with his great-grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, brother – Clint and son – Kirby. He is survived by his bride – Sharon, his sons – Greg (Brian) and Mike, his granddaughter – Jessica (Josh), his great-grandchildren – Ahnner and Juliann, his sisters – Nancy and Deb and several in-laws and nieces and nephews.
Don was laid to rest during a private burial at G.A.R. Cemetery in Snohomish, WA. Friends and family members are invited to a memorial service in his honor at Thomas Family Farms in Snohomish, WA on Saturday, April 9th, 2016 from 1 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Seattle Children’s Hospital, Ronald McDonald House, Last Wish Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
