Snohomish-area state Route 9
closure postponed
SNOHOMISH — WSDOT said May 25 that the contractor requested postponing the upcoming scheduled five-day closure and detour on state Route 9 at Avenue D to construct a roundabout.
Revised dates for the closure are not final yet.
"They are working on a new timeline for when they’d like to do the 5-day closure," WSDOT spokesman Tony Black told the Tribune.
"Work in the area will continue," Black said.
The closure had been scheduled from May 31 to June 6 to build a standard-size, single-lane roundabout where state Route 9 intersects with Avenue D and 19th Place. The $3.4 million roundabout will allow local traffic entering the highway to go either north or south. Currently, traffic must turn right only.
