The event gives area children selected and referred by local social service providers a chance to go holiday shopping with law enforcement officers. This year 176 children received a $50 gift card to shop with officers from the Everett, Mill Creek and Monroe police departments, and Washington State Patrol.

The planks on the ceiling are made of wooden shiplap said to be original to the house, which was discovered during the remodel process. “It was like striking gold,” Dana Hendry said.
